The structure of rainfall changes – it rains less often and more intensively, therefore we tend to experience flooding and drought – alternately. We also contribute to faster runoff of rainwater to rivers. How? By sealing large surfaces of land we deprive the soil of bio-retention. The soil does not absorb rainwater which flows into city drains, ditches and rivers. Even one sudden rainfall can result in extensive flooding.
So how to slow down the outflow of rainwater? It is enough to take care of biologically active areas on your plot, as well as catching rainwater – from barrels located near the gutters, to underground tanks or drainage boxes.
